Mary, Mom & Dad crewing the Fat Chance

Sailing Around Buzzard's Bay with our Family and Friends

During the summers, our good friend Tom Selldorff takes us out on his sailboat the Fat Chance II on a number of cruises and races. The boat is moored in Padanaram Village (pronounced Paytinerum) at the New Bedford Yacht Club about one hour from our house. Tom raced many Wednesday nights with Tom Selldorff and a number of times on the weekends.  On one weekend when the boat wasn't being used, Tom (Mckenna) took Jean, Hank and Mary out for a cruise. Generally the weather was always fantastic and as you can see from the pictures below, a good time was had by all.

The McKenna's on the Fat Chance In early August Shannon & I had an opportunity to take the Fat Chance II out with Mom, Dad and Mary. It was a fantastic time (even better since we didn't hit anything)
Mary and Mom at the helm On the cruise with the family, Mary had an opportunity to take the helm and Mom advised us on proper sail trim.
The skipper, Tom Selldorff Here is a picture of our great friend and owner of the Fat Chance II. Yes, he is always this relaxed, even during the races.
David Elms on the Fat Chance David Elmes joined us late in the season as a racing crew member on Wednesday nights and for the Buzzard's Bay Regatta. He was a great help and a very accomplished sailor (if we could only get him to hang his feet over the rail).
The BBR Crew The BBR was our best race of the season where we finished 1st two out of three times. Here is a picture of that famous crew.
The BBR Crew Another great picture of the BBR crew. Here is a picture of us at the start of the race.
